Are you glad to say goodbye to 2017? Sorry to see it go? Feeling hopeful for 2018?
The world was a busy place in 2017 – and I’m sure it will be this year, too. I’ve decided to Embrace the Chaos.
Last year, I learned lessons in patience (always a favorite…ha) and discovered that there’s no such thing as perfect (and even if there was, I wouldn’t want it). I re-learned that if we don’t have health, we have nothing. And I remembered that family and good friends is where happiness lives.
Have you made resolutions for 2018? Is that a thing people still do? Rather than resolutions (no more junk food – ever!), I prefer to set intentions (I will do my best to limit junk food). It just feels a little more gentle, yes?
At Brush Dance, early summer is our busiest time of year. We are shipping orders out to our largest customers, coordinating time away (because even though we’re crazy-busy at work, everyone deserves a break), and working quickly to finish up our 2019 (!!) calendar designs. It’s busy!
In my personal life, I have already traveled some to see friends and family, and there are another couple of trips on the horizon. I won’t even mention our home remodeling project. When it’s like this, there’s only one thing to do – Embrace The Chaos.
Actually, I like to think of it more as “Embracing the Organized Chaos.” I am the kind of person who enjoys making lists, being organized, and knowing what is coming next. I don’t mind if the plan changes last minute because I know that I can fit any priority item into my schedule.
Priorities. That’s the key, right? Figuring out what is most important and then setting things up so that we can treat those things like the priority they are.
In no particular order, my priorities for this summer:
Brush Dance projects
More practice with drawing/watercolor
Visiting with family and friends
Play board games (we like Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, and Boggle)
Goal: Complete an entire week’s worth of NY Times Crossword puzzles with my husband
Shown above are the Pantone colors for Spring 2017. We’re embracing each of them in own way at Brush Dance.
Finally, we are on the other side of winter and heading fast into spring. Winter isn’t my season. Spring – yes!
We have had so much rain in the San Francisco Bay Area this winter. It’s nothing like the snow in other parts of the US, but it does make everything just a little more of a challenge. I’m looking forward to those easy breezy days.
Get that bright pop of color you’ve been looking for all winter.
Want to be on-trend with color, but not spend a lot? Brush Dance has the answer. Most of our items are under $20, many under $10.
Take a trip to the beach with this gently scented candle from Aquiesse. Just $5.99.
How is the end of winter going for you? Surviving? Thriving? We’d love to hear all about it.
Now that the new year is well on its way, our focus at Brush Dance turns from calendars and planners to all of the other wonderful items we sell.
I thought I’d share a few of my favorite bags with you today.
Bags. I’m into all of our new, fun bags. The one shown above is a limited edition collaboration between us and our pals over at Chico Bags. I love this quote, the bright bright orange – our art combined with fabulous Chico Bags and you really can’t go wrong.
We’re all about fonts and typography at Brush Dance. This handy zipper pouch makes me happy. It’s the perfect size to hold some pens and a small notepad. Zip it up, toss in my tote, and I’m ready to go.
And check this out . . .
Here are a couple of other smaller pouches that I adore . . .
We truly have a bag for everyone – big, small, plain, funny, small, girly, cute, serious. I hope you’ll love them, too!
At Brush Dance, we don’t necessarily create the art and photographs that appear on our calendar items, but we do spend countless hours designing the final products that end up on our website or in your local shops.
The images, words, and fonts we choose come together to help set the different moods for different calendars.
We had been searching and searching for a great font for The Cat’s Meow (above), and one day our Art Director messaged with, “Found it!!” And sure enough – the title font does look just a little “cat scratchy,” yes?
Obstacles are built into every opportunity. You have to be willing to work through them to succeed.
All of our 2017 calendar items are available for purchase on our website right now. Our products are also available small and large retailers around the world. Please contact us if you’d like us to help you find a store near you.
