Public Service Announcement: Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14 this year.
Is your mom traditional? A bit of a hippie? Does she love spending time in the kitchen? Maybe she has a crazy sense of humor? We definitely have something for every mom on your list.
A full 80% of Brush Dance employees are women and 100% of those moms. When it comes to what moms want – we know what we’re talking about. While the items above are absolutely wonderful and we want to encourage you to shop at Brush Dance – most moms really do just want that hug, phone call, and time with family.
We talked a lot about Aquiesse Candles around the November-December holidays last year, but burning candles is not just for the cooler months.
Aquiesse is a leader in luxury home fragrances inspired by nature. Founded in Santa Barbara, California, more than ten years ago, they collaborate with designers and perfumers to create their suite of sophisticated and approachable scents.
The lavender candle shown above features spanish sage, dry chaparral, white sandalwood, and (of course) lavender. The scent is definitely lavender, with a touch of what I would describe as woodsy and a bit herby. Sometimes, lavender can seem over-perfumed – this is not that.
These convenient travel candles burn for 20 hours and cost just $6. I use these on my bathroom counter – where space is definitely limited.
The 11 ounce Luxe Tin Candles burn for 100 hours and include matches that are conveniently stored in the lid. The containers are double-walled and stay cool to the touch. And – unbreakable!
My favorite scent is the Luxe Linen shown above. A barely sweet perfect combination of sandalwood and herbal tea is soft and romantic.
Aquiesse Candles are blended using only the highest-grade ingredients, essential oils, lead-free wicks, and pure soy wax. We love everything about these candles and the people who make them.
Karma (yes, her real name) is our highly-esteemed and ultra-organized administrative assistant at Brush Dance. In addition to answering the phone when you call with questions, Karma works with every department to help keep things on track. She runs reports, creates spreadsheets, dives into Facebook and Instagram, proofs all of our calendars, and much much more.
When she’s not working, Karma enjoys hiking with her boyfriend in the hills near her home, spending time with family, visiting museums, and cuddling with her cats. She says the Octopus Shopper Bag from BlueQ reminds her of trips to the aquarium.
Known to doodle, Zentangle, and bullet journal, writing instruments are important to Karma. In her own words…
And after all of that work, hiking, and museum-ing, some self-care is in order. A long bath with our effervescent bath seltzer is just the thing. Karma is also reasonably certain that every cat lover needs a pair of these ultra-soft Cat Monster Socks.
Thank you for sharing your favorite things with us, Karma!
I also wanted to let you know that we’ve placed some new items in our Clearance section. Once these items are gone, we will not restock them. There are some terrific deals there and I hope you’ll check them out!
Shown above are the Pantone colors for Spring 2017. We’re embracing each of them in own way at Brush Dance.
Finally, we are on the other side of winter and heading fast into spring. Winter isn’t my season. Spring – yes!
We have had so much rain in the San Francisco Bay Area this winter. It’s nothing like the snow in other parts of the US, but it does make everything just a little more of a challenge. I’m looking forward to those easy breezy days.
Get that bright pop of color you’ve been looking for all winter.
Want to be on-trend with color, but not spend a lot? Brush Dance has the answer. Most of our items are under $20, many under $10.
Take a trip to the beach with this gently scented candle from Aquiesse. Just $5.99.
How is the end of winter going for you? Surviving? Thriving? We’d love to hear all about it.
Here we are, deep into winter. I hope you’re staying warm. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we don’t get the kind of frigid winter that other parts of the country experience. (I lived in New York for a long time – I get it, I really get it. Slush is serious business, right?)
Today, I’m wishing you less stress. More relaxation. A slower existence – even if just for a little time each day. We give so much of ourselves – work, husbands, wives, partners, children. We simply must take time for ourselves. We must rejuvenate.
I have some go-to stress relieving techniques. Big deeeeeeep breaths and I’ve started meditating this year (I think it’s going to stick this time), and one of my tried-and-true-forever-and-ever stress relievers is to light a candle, put on some gentle music, and climb into a hot bath.
I nearly always bathe right before bed. The coziness of it all puts me in the right frame of mind to fall asleep quickly.
